Mental Health and Family Well-being Foundation is a Ghanaian-owned nonprofit organization committed to promoting and protecting mental and emotional well-being through counseling, advocacy, education, and community support.

Who we are
Mental Health and Family Well-being Foundation is a Ghanaian-owned nonprofit organization making an impact on mental health and the well-being of families in the country and beyond. Our focus is on individuals, groups, organizations, and vulnerable families who need mental health counseling services and advocacy.
Families are the bedrock of societies, and every disruption—directly or indirectly—impacts the emotional, psychological, and mental well-being of individuals. This, in turn, affects their work life, social life, and general well-being.
Our story
The move to advocate for mental health and family well-being started in 2023 by a Ghanaian youth named Perpetual Opata.

2023
A young Ghanaian, Perpetual Opata, starts reaching out to persons living with mental health conditions on the streets of Winneba and Agona Swedru, and opens an online safe corner for honest conversations about mental health.
2023–2025
Community outreach, mental health education, advocacy, and giveback initiatives grow the work from a personal passion into an organised community effort.
December 2025
Mental Health and Family Well-being Foundation becomes a registered nonprofit organization, ready to serve individuals, families, schools and organisations across Ghana and beyond.
We envision a world where mental and emotional health is prioritized as much as physical health, and where the mental well-being of every individual—whether in a family, school, corporate, or non-corporate institution—is prioritized and protected.
To promote and protect mental and emotional well-being by providing accessible counseling, advocacy, and education for individuals, families, schools, and organizations across Ghana and beyond. We work to create safe spaces, raise awareness, and support vulnerable communities so that mental health receives the same priority and care as physical health.
Safe, confidential and affordable emotional support for individuals, couples and families who need someone to listen.
Workshops, talks and everyday-language resources that grow mental health literacy in schools, workplaces and homes.
Speaking up for the dignity and rights of people living with mental health conditions, and for stronger community support.
Walking with vulnerable families and underserved communities through outreach, giveback sessions and referrals.
